General Information

Once logged into the game a general province and kingdom overview is given by the left-hand menu choices: Throne, Council, Kingdom, Paper, Last Month, and Recent News. This section of Utopianways will describe and explain how to use each.

Throne

The Throne page is the first page displayed upon login. It will list information such as the amount of gold coins on hand, number of peasants, bushels stored, runes available, and province net worth. A summary table will give an overview of military, efficiency, trade balance, and more. Below the summary, a notation of the kingdom relation may be visible, along with the list of happenings, and a review of recent news.

Casting a successful Crystal Ball on another province will produce a very similar screen. The Crystal Ball spell is essential to glean key information on a province and its resources.

Recent News

Underneath the Throne summary, new happenings may be displayed. These are events occurred since the last login. The Recent News link contains all of the events for the past three utopian months. These events include attacks against the province, magic spells cast on the province, and thievery operations carried out by the enemy. They may also include dragon effects if such a creature is roaming the land. Below is a summary reference of what the events mean. They have been divided in categories for ease of reference: military attacks, magic, thievery, and miscellaneous.

Military Attack News

"We lost [number] soldiers, [number] defensive specialists, and [number] elites in the struggle." Every time you are attacked, successfully or not, you lose a portion of your soldiers, defensive specialists, and elites. This message sums up your military losses.

"Forces from [province name, location] attempted to attack us, but failed miserably!" An enemy tried to attack your province, but did not send enough offense to succeed. It gives no indication of what type of attack was launched.

"Forces from [province name: location] came through and ravaged our lands! They captured [number] acres!" The enemy carried out a Traditional March attack on you. Consequences are loss of land, honor, buildings, and peasants. This type of attack is the most frequently used in the utopian world.

"Forces from [province name: location] crossed into our territory! They were able to capture [number] acres before we could turn them away!" The adversary carried out successfully a Conquest attack on you. Consequences are loss of land, honor, buildings, and peasants. This type of attack is used likely by smaller attackers.

"Forces from [province name: location] came through and ravaged our lands! They looted [number] gc, [number] bushels of food, and [number] runes! The enemy has plundered your lands successfully and has taken the indicated number of resources. Most used when there are significant stockpiles of resources.

"Forces from [province name: location] came through and ravaged our lands! Their armies destroyed [number] acres of our land!" The adversary used the Raze attack on you. Raze attacks destroy your acres and buildings. Small consolation: the attacker gains no peasants, no acres, and no honor.

"Forces from [province: location] came through and ravaged our lands! Their armies killed [number] of our peasants, thieves, and wizards!" You were victim of a Massacre attack. Massacres kill peasants, thieves, and wizards. This type of attack is commonly used to hold back those playing in thievery and magic roles.

"Forces from [province: location] came through and ravaged our lands! They stole [number] books of knowledge in the Arts & Sciences! They took books, pictures, and more!" The enemy carried out a Learn attack on you. You lost science books, while the attacker gained them. Often used against provinces with a fair amount of science books.

Thievery News

"We have found thieves causing trouble within our lands. Unfortunately, we know not where they came from." The Message appears when an enemy tried to perform a thievery operation on you, and failed. The identity of the thieving province in this case is unknown.

"We have found thieves from [province: location] causing trouble within our lands!" Same as above, but this time your thieves were able to identify the perpetrator.

"Some gold coins were stolen from our coffers!" Tells you that someone broke into your coffers and stole the amount of money indicated.

"Some bushels of food were stolen from our granaries!" Thieves slipped into your food supply and got away with the amount of bushels indicated.

"A number of our runes were stolen!" Someone raided your towers and left with the amount of runes indicated.

"Rioting has started amongst our people. Our tax collection efforts will be hampered for several days!" Thieves blended with your peasantry and incited riots. You will receive less income for the length indicated.

"Some of our people were kidnapped!" A number of peasants were abducted by unscrupulous thieves, never to return.

"Many of our War Horses have been stolen!" Thieves crept into your stables and led away the number of horses indicated.

"Some of our troops were found dead today!" This message is the consequence of the Night Strike thievery operation.

"Several acres of farms were ruined and destroyed by wildfires!" This note appears when thieves have used the Burn Farms operation against you.

"Many of our thieves abandoned us hoping for a better life!" Direct consequence of the Propaganda thievery operation, it may affect soldiers, defensive and offensive specialists, elites, wizards, and thieves.

"Some of our wizards were assassinated!" Devious Thieves hid in the shadows and killed the number of wizards indicated.

"We have discovered turncoats amongst our thieves' guild. These men have been executed for treason!" Unfortunately, these thieves are caught only after they have done damage – by being less effective and disorganized - and are a result of the Bribe Thieves operation.

"We have discovered a turncoat general leading our military. He has been executed for treason!" Similar to the above, the message refers to the generals leading your armies who have caused a higher number of losses due to careless guide.

Magic News

"We reawakened 91 of our troops into soldiers." This message appears if you had the Animate Dead Spell active at the time of the attack. Approximately half your casualties are reawakened as basic soldiers.

"Shadow light has revealed that [province: location] was responsible for this attack." You had cast Shadow light before a thief snuck into your lands and your wizards were able to identify its origin and attempt.

"Our mages noticed a possible spell attempt by [province: location] causing trouble on our lands!" Aware of magic activities by the enemy, your wizards thwarted their attempt.

"A spell attempt was reflected away from us." Direct consequence of the Reflect Magic Spell, this message informs you that whatever the enemy wizards tried to cast, was mirrored unto them.

"Enemies have convinced our soldiers to demand more money for upkeep." This message appears when enemy wizards have cast Greed on your province.

"Several gold coins have been turned into worthless lead." You were victim of the Fool’s Gold Spell.

"Many acres of land have disappeared from our control!" is the message that appears after enemy wizards have used the Land Lust spell on you.

"This morning, many of our men from our armies and thieves' guild turned up unfit. The Soldiers quit, while the rest are being retrained. They should be available again in several days." This message indicates that you were victim of the Nightmares Spell.

Miscellaneous News

"It appears we have contracted The Plague!" The last person who attacked you, sometimes even unsuccessfully, had the plague or was an Undead, and infected your lands.

"A few men deserted our military due to housing shortages!" When attacked multiple times, and when you lose a large amount of land, there will be overpopulation. If the population is much higher than what you can hold, the military will slowly desert your army.

“The dragon has ravaged and destroyed many acres of housing!” If a dragon is upon a kingdom, it will demolish the homes of all its provinces.

“We were not able to pay out military fully. This may hurt our military effectiveness.” This message means you have more military than income-producing peasantry and buildings, and are unable to pay the wages.

Council

The Council of Elders is comprised of seven advisors: Affairs of the State, Military Affairs, Internal Affairs, Arts & Sciences, Mystic Affair, History, and Kingdom Growth. Seeking information from each of these Elders gives you additional information on the status of your province.

The Affairs of the State Advisor will report on the economy of your province. Listed is the headcount of your province, the status of employment, daily income and expenses, and the status resources such as food and runes.

The Military Affairs Advisor provides information on the status and efficiency of the military, the number of armies that are home or away, and captured land, if any. Included is a detailed daily schedule of the troops in training. The Spy on Military thievery operation will report on another province using the same format.

The Internal Affair Advisor reports on employment and building efficiency, detailing the structures built and in progress, as well as the effects of every structure constructed. The Survey thievery operation will report on another province using the same format.

The Arts & Sciences Advisor reports on the knowledge acquired and studies in progress. The Spy on Sciences thievery operation will report on another province using the same format.

The Mystic Affairs Advisor collects information from your wizard guild as to the spells affecting your province, both positively and negatively.

The History Advisor keeps track of growth, military engagements, thievery and magic performance, and reports the highest level reached during the age for net worth, land, and honor.

The Kingdom Growth Advisor plots yearly graphic comparison charts of the kingdom as a whole by net worth, land, and honor.

Each Advisor, except the Kingdom Advisor, may be beheaded should you feel the need to express your frustration at their reports. No worries, a new advisor will promptly replace them.

The Kingdom

This page will give information on the name of the kingdom, its location, how many provinces are part of it, and the total net worth. Color-coding is used to identify provinces in protection, the monarch of the kingdom, and your own province. The star symbol (*) will be visible next to provinces currently online. Following is the Kingdom Stance: the position your kingdom has towards other kingdoms. Next is a review of your kingdom’s war history: number of wars fought, wars won, and the average size of the kingdoms in prior war engagements. The notation following the war history describes the relation status of your kingdom versus another. Finally yet importantly, a summary of all provinces that make up the kingdom is given: province name, race, acres, net worth, and honor rank. This information is available for all kingdoms in the utopian world simply by selecting different kingdom and location numbers.

The Paper

The Daily Paper lists the current monthly happenings affecting your kingdom. Included are important activities such as attacks carried out and suffered, deaths, defections, dragons, aid exchanges, changes in relations and their outcome. The Crystal Eye spell enables to view the events for another kingdom, both for the current and past month.

Last Month

Last Month is simply the Daily Paper edition for the previous utopian month and lists all events as described for The Paper above.
