Home : Communication & AidOnce logged into the game communication and trade & aid capabilities are given by the left-hand menu choices: Read Messages, Send Messages, Forums, and Aid. This section of Utopianways will describe and explain how to use each. Read MessagesUpon return to your province, you may be notified that you have new messages waiting to be read. It is good practice to do so before making any other inquiries of your people. The message you received will indicate the date it was received, the way you were addressed, the content, and the signature of the sender and its location. You may reply to the message or select and then delete it. All messages received are kept for a maximum of three utopian days, and will be automatically deleted after such time. If you wish to empty your desk, you may delete all messages at once. You may choose to report any message to the Utopian Lords for inappropriate content. Inappropriate content is defined as the use of foul language, instigation to provide personal information, and potential fraudulent use of the same. If the message contains information that points to a direct violation of the Utopian Code, such as the exploitation of bugs or cheating practices, you may report such players as Cheaters. The Utopian Lords will then review your grievances and take appropriate action. Reading messages may be very important so make sure to take the time and do so. Send MessagesMessengers can take communications to any other ruler anywhere in the utopian world. Every message may be up to fifteen hundred characters long. If the message is longer than that, it will be truncated. It is very important that messages be polite and not use offensive language, or the Utopian Lords will be angered and may remove your province entirely. Sending a message is simple: select the kingdom and island of destination and the intended recipient province within. You may choose how to address the addressee, by prefixing his or her ruler name with one of the following: The Honorable, The Kind, The Great, My Trusted Friend, The Despicable, The Wretched, My Worthy Foe, and My Hated Enemy. You may also decide to omit a label altogether. Given the appellation choices, you have the opportunity to convey your feelings towards the addressee at the time the message is written. You will receive notification that your message has been delivered. If you use foul or objectionable language in your message, you may be warned to amend its contents before it will be delivered, or the message will be lost. ForumsEvery kingdom is provided with a common area for its province rulers and their monarch to meet and discuss any issues that may affect the kingdom as a whole. Participating is a vital requirement of your responsibilities as a province, as the long-term liveliness of your lands will be tied to the ability to coordinate and work with your kingdom mates. Specific rules of etiquette apply and you must remain courteous and respectable, or you may face the prospect of the Utopian Lords stripping you of your province, or incur the wrath of your kingdom mates. Some kingdoms may also make use of outside communications sources such as instant messengers or other message boards to coordinate their kingdom activities. While some kingdoms and their monarchs may insist you use those methods, you are under no obligation to do so. Kingdoms are not allowed to require any individual to use these forms of communication. If a kingdom member is demanding such thing and threatening your demise if you fail to comply, let the Utopian Lords know and they will take appropriate action. Upon entering the Forums, you will be given a list of all topics open for discussion, the number of opinions exchanged about each, the province name that brought up the topic, and the last time someone posted in that thread. Above the list of topics, the current date is displayed for ease of reference. You may read each topic, post a reply if you so wish, or bring up a topic yourself. While visiting the Forums, you may notice some topics labeled as “sticky”. This means the Monarch or the page of the kingdom has designated that specific topic as important or recurring. Occasionally, the Monarch or Page may delete outdated posts or erase objectionable posts at their discretion. AidSome of the provinces in your kingdom may be in need of supplies to help keep their provinces alive. Because of rules set forth by the Utopian Lords, only specific goods, such as food, money, runes, and soldiers, may be sent. The frequency of Aid packages is a good indicator of the level of activity within a kingdom and its unity. Aid may be only sent to provinces within the kingdom. When you send aid packages to your kingdom mates, your trade balance increases; conversely, when you receive aid, your trade balance decreases. If the trade balance goes below four times your net worth, you will be taxed on future aid shipments. If the Explosions spell was cast on your province, a portion of the aid you send and receive will be destroyed. The Aid Advisor will notify you of what the estimated tax on future incoming shipments will be. You will be given the option to select the province in need and to specify the amount of goods you wish to send. Depending on your Trade Balance, and especially if you are being taxed heavily, you may want to block temporarily all future incoming packages. Aid may be blocked or unblocked at any time. The Aid System may be used also for everyday trading purposes. If you have a surplus of a specific resource and wish to give it away, you may propose a trade for other resources you lack. Generally, an Aid thread is available in the Forums to facilitate and organize such exchanges.
