Home : Monarchy & HonorThe kingdom environment is very important in the utopian world. The first step towards kingdom organization is to elect a Monarch. Within the Politics section of the game, you can cast a vote for an individual of your choice. Once a single individual has a significant portion of the votes, they are elected. At that point, the Monarch can name the kingdom and manage relations with other kingdoms throughout the utopian world. The utopian world is one of honor and nobility. While you can have a lifestyle of deceit and betrayal, there are some unique and great rewards for living honorably. Over time, good deeds will earn you recognition throughout the world. As you accumulate this honor, you will be granted a Title of Nobility, which offers benefits to your province. Strive to live honorably and you will be rewarded with faster and more prosperous growth. Election ProcessEach province in the kingdom has the right to one vote. Further power of voting can be obtained through honor. By Utopian Law, every province is guaranteed a minimum of one vote and no more than ten votes. If the elected individual does not fit the leadership role bestowed upon him or her, votes may be withdrawn at any time, and a new election process can be started. If a province wishes to become the Monarch of the kingdom, there are a few different ways to achieve this goal. First, being voted in by the other fellow provinces. In order to be elected, a province must maintain over fifty percent of the vote of other leaders, and must have at least two votes more than any other province. If the province is not popular, this might not happen. Thus, diplomacy is essential. Treat others with respect; maximize their value and importance in the kingdom. There is one other way to gain the Monarchy. A province can seize control of the kingdom if its net worth is one-half of that of the kingdom as a whole – in this case, the province can cast the deciding vote. Whoever is chosen to be Monarch must be elected. Sometimes an agreement cannot be reached and provinces may have to attack fellow kingdom members, thereby weakening the kingdom's standing throughout the world. On the other hand, civil war may be the only way to achieve order. Responsibilities of a MonarchIf a province becomes King or Queen (by force or vote), then that province gains several benefits, and – at the same time - additional responsibilities which will take time, dedication, patience, diplomacy, and more. The elected Monarch must rule with a fair hand and seek input from fellow kingdom members. The King or Queen is also responsible for the maintenance of the Kingdom Forums: keeping them clean, and making them useful to the various rulers across the kingdom. A Monarch represents the kingdom to the world, and his or her actions will reflect on the provinces he or she represents. Diplomacy and tact will be vital to any kind of long-term success. The Monarch must maintain relations with other kingdoms, like negotiating ceasefires, peaceful relations, or declaring war. Kings and Queens may start projects such as the nurturing and flight of a Dragon, may display a kingdom banner, and may appoint a Page. A Monarch can also set a message to be displayed kingdom-wide upon login. Benefits of MonarchyWith Monarchy come benefits as well. Beyond the recognition and respect that such a position entails, the people of the province and the kingdom understand how vital leadership is to the kingdom's future. As such, the peasantry of a Monarch will work one-tenth harder to improve economy, food and rune production, and defense. Starting with hostile relations and beyond, a Monarch also boosts its defensive thievery and magic effectiveness by one-tenth. HonorAchieving Honor is a straightforward process - Honor can be captured solely by taking risks and confronting worthy adversaries. A small province will gain a set amount of honor just for surviving in the harsh utopian world. After this initial period, Honor can be captured through successful attacks, spells, and thievery operations. Honor will not be captured for taking advantage of smaller, weaker enemies, or by being a nuisance to substantially larger opponents. Honor is also not given for working as an outsider, beyond the bounds of the kingdom while its relations are Hostile or War. Honor is primarily earned by dedicating oneself to the combined success of the kingdom. As it is gained, Honor can be lost. Honor is captured, not created: if a province is defeated by a worthy adversary, it will lose Honor as well. Titles of NobilityAs certain milestones of Honor are reached, a province will be granted a different Title of Nobility. As with Honor, a Title of Nobility can be stripped. Each Title of Nobility will provide various benefits.
Benefits of TitlesHonor has inherent benefits due to notoriety and the respect of the people. For each title acquired beyond Knighthood (or Ladyship), a province will see the benefits listed below. Additionally, for each title acquired above and including Count / Countess, a province will receive double benefits. Two-tenth increase in maximum population Two-tenth increase in income Three-tenth increase in offensive military efficiency Three-tenth increase in magic effectiveness Three-tenth increase in thievery effectiveness One additional vote for the Kingdom's Monarchy
